Domestic Workers have declared June 16 as International Domestic Workers Day. On the anniversary of the adoption of the C189, it will be a great opportunity for domestic workers to celebrate this historic victory, and remind our governments to ratify C189 as soon as possible so that they can deliver real gains to domestic workers.
The IDWN will be organizing an event at the ILO during the ILC to honour those governments which have ratified the Convention and to remind the rest of their domestic duty – that is, to ratify C189 quickly. Globally IDWN will be mobilizing domestic workers’ organizations, trade union national centres and other allies to celebrate the victory but also to remind their governments of their duties.
