Between International Human Rights Day (10 December 2010) and the opening of the International Labour Conference (1 June 2011) organized domestic workers and support organizations will lobby their governments to vote for a meaningful and strong rights-based international Convention to protect domestic workers. Related activities will raise public awareness on the need for rights and respect for domestic workers worldwide.

International Migrants' Day, 18 December, was the occasion for the Steering Committee, a global alliance of domestic workers' organizations, unions and advocates, to issue a statement calling for activists to unite to win the ILO Convention. Juan Somavia, Director-General of the ILO, also weighed in with strong support of migrant worker rights.
